Example from the field
Amruta Kamath — Founder and Chef of House of Flavours. It is her passion for cooking that drove her to start her career as a home chef. She operated from her kitchen at home for two years, serving home-cooked meals to her close circle of acquaintances and friends. When she realised that people appreciated what she cooked and that her clientele was steadily increasing, she decided to take the next step in her culinary journey. When the lockdown hit she decided to get better at what she did, inventing and re-inventing dishes to find her niche — Asian and continental cuisine — and took a cloud kitchen class to understand how food businesses can create and deliver food products with minimal overheads. After learning the nitty-gritty of the trade she rented a small kitchen space, hired three sous chefs, and House of Flavours was born; it now delivers between Borivali and Andheri, and pan Mumbai for bulk orders.
